Southbound Enby
A Pacific Crest Trail thru-hiker blog
About
Hello there!
My trail name is Thresher, and I am planning on starting my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail on July 7th, 2023. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2013 (Northbound), and as 10 years have gone by, it seems about time to get my hiker stink back in full force. I am a transgender fella (they/them) who loves the color orange, crows, Keanu Reeves and the middles of things.
My trail name comes from the Thresher Shark, a very goofy-looking warm-blooded shark (also known as a Fox Shark) that has a ridiculously long tail. Against all better judgment I have a mullet, and I was gifted this trail name in honor of my own ridiculously long tail.
So why a blog, instead of TikTok or Instagram, as most hikers do now? Even if blogging is sort of like hitching a Radio Flyer with one wonky wheel to several shambling zombies in sport coats, and even if it’s only my family that reads this, it’s a way for me to be able to remember my hike. And honestly, there’s something charmingly vintage about a blog.
Lastly, blogging also saves me from having to make phone calls every time I’m in town to inform my relatives that, against all odds, I have not yet been devoured by a Grizzly Bear (although it’s possible I will be – and if I am, y’all can say I predicted it).
If you’d like to start at the beginning, here’s the link to the first post:
